Underwater Ballet

In the Kelp gardens the dance of life emerges from a piece of yew wood chosen by my client. Seals move gracefully through the flowing kelp as the salmon escapes to the surface.A newel at the bottom of a staircase inviting one to step into the realm of the ocean, into an underwater garden.It has been graced by the presence of Martha the seal who came to visit me throughout its creation, so it is imbibed with a lot of seal energy. I have enjoyed the company of seals on many outings in my kayak over the years.Yew wood has an incredible rich coloured heart wood that is enhanced with an oil finish. I have included photos before it was oiled. This carving holds a special place in my heart and I desire one day to swim in the elegant kelp forests like the seal!
